Why Cruise?

Choosing a cruise is exciting – it is all about which Ports you will call at. We chose the Princess cruises “Cherry Blossom Cruise” because of the amazing array of unusual Ports. Some places I had never heard of such as Chuck, others such as Guam and Saipan I had only heard of in reference to World War II in the Pacific. Brunei and Borneo sounded exotic.

Before booking your cruise you are able to look up shore excursions that are offered by the cruise ship company. You can check all the excursions offered for each Port. This will give you a very good idea of the best things to cover in that Port.

Before arriving at each Port there is usually a lecture on board ship telling you the best things to see and do, the currency accepted and the best way to get around, for example by foot, train, bus or taxi. When opting to do your own excursion it is important to watch the clock so that you make it back to the ship in time. The ship will not wait for you.

Usually there is only one day allocated to each Port so it is important that you select the shore excursion that covers the things you are most interested in seeing. If you are fascinated by some Port and want more time there you can always book a full stay there later. Cruising is a wonderful way to see large numbers of places in a short time and at a reasonable cost.

Of course once you are hooked on cruising you will often revisit Ports and this gives you an opportunity to select a different shore excursion and see some other sites or you may feel adventurous enough to go out on your own.
